Tutoring Studio and Day School Motivate Students to Learn

Motivational Educational Training Company, Inc. (METC), with locations in both Yardley and Doylestown strives to inspire people of all ages to reach their full potential through passion, empowerment and skills-training.

METC promotes education through motivation by working with the head and heart before working with the brain.

This means that in order for kids to do better in school, they must have the right mindset to learn.

"We help inspire our students to become motivated to learn," says METC owner, founder and Executive Director, Kathleen Rosso-Gana.

"Once they are motivated, they are more inclined to use strategies for learning and testing."

Tutoring is offered to students in all grades, as well as to adults, by certified teachers trained in METC's philosophy.

It provides tutors in all subjects in all levels.

METC offers real one-on-one tutoring, unlike the many tutoring chains where teachers actually work with two or three students at a time.

As a result, students at METC get the personalized, individual attention so necessary for success.

Although a significant number of students come to METC for remedial help, half of the students at METC's tutoring studio come to maintain their grades in advanced classes like AP math or high level language or science classes.

In addition to tutoring, METC offers standardized test prep for all testing, including the SATs.

METC also goes into area schools to help prepare students for the SAT's and other tests such as the PSSA's.

Unlike the other tutoring chains that appear very clinical, METC offers a comfortable environment that truly feels more like home than a tutoring facility.

Students who feel safe and nurtured will work harder and reach their potential.

METC also offers a non-traditional private day school.

"New Hope Academy (NHA) in Yardley and Doylestown is ideal if traditional schools are not working for students," says Rosso-Gana.

"New Hope Academy works with students with learning disabilities, emotional issues, and anxiety/behavior disorders.

These are good kids who are creative and bright.  They just need a different environment and school model to succeed."

Like METC, NHA adheres to the same philosophy of motivating students to learn.

All teachers must be motivational specialists, and all students are required to take a motivational course, entitled Power Skills to Empower Students (this same course can be taken at METC as a tutorial enrichment course).

By encouraging mindset changed UNTIL the possibilities for each student's growth and learning is unlimited, NHA inspires students to reach their full potential by igniting passion, teaching strategies and structuring practice.

This day school accepts students in grades 6 through 12.  It consists of privately placed and district placed students.

NHA is licensed in both PA and NJ.

Because there is a student/teacher ratio of two-to-one, each child is given the opportunity to learn in a rare one-on-one setting or very small group of two to four.

Academically, NHA offers a challenging state standards-based curriculum.  It also has a very extensive music, art and drama department, along with a state-of-the-art computer curriculum including film, digital photography, computer animation, and lots more.

Ninety percent of the students at NHA go on to four-year colleges.  The others go to local community colleges.
